Iraq is buying radars, anti-aircraft weapons, and missile systems

The spokesman of the Iraqi armed forces commander said that they are currently completing the radar system and have sent technical and military committees to several countries to sign contracts to buy anti-aircraft weapons.

"Iraq has signed a contract to buy French radars and the first batch has arrived, they continue to complete the radar system in general," Iraqi Armed Forces Commander spokesman Lieutenant General Yahya Rassoul told INN.

He added that the air defense command has the ability to detect radar and track aircraft movements in Iraqi airspace.

He added that the technical and military committees have visited several countries and the details have been presented and seen the anti-aircraft weapons.

Hussein Hashim, a member of the Iraqi parliament's security and defense committee, said: The first phase of the GM403 radar contract with the French company Talis, four radars and work continues to complete the necessary infrastructure in the provinces of Nineveh, Kirkuk, Baghdad, and Diwaniya with an operations center at the airport headquarters of the Air Defense Command worth (160) million euros.

He said the second phase of the contract has been completed for the supply of 14 radars worth 700 million euros, of which 100 million euros have been handed over.

"Iraq has been offered an air defense missile system with a range of 100 kilometers at a cost of 4.5 billion euros, which will be extended later on condition that Iraq pays another 1.2 billion euros," Hashim said.
