IHEC: Two coalitions have been registered for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections

Iraqi Election Commission spokeswoman said that two coalitions have been registered with the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission to participate in the Iraqi Kurdistan parliament.

Jumana Ghalay, a spokeswoman for the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission said "So far, two coalitions, the Kurdistan Regional Government Coalition and the Sardam Coalition, have been registered with the Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) to participate in the Iraqi Kurdistan Parliament in Duhok and Sulaimani provinces."

"Each party and coalition has the right to submit its list of candidates in more than one constituency, for example, each party or coalition can submit its list of candidates for Duhok, Erbil, Halabja, and Sulaimani," she said.

She added that two parties have submitted their lists of candidates, one in Sulaimani and the other in Halabja.

She said that 11 people in Erbil, 13 in Sulaimani, and 12 in Duhok have nominated themselves for the parliamentary elections, but no candidate has been registered as an individual in Halabja.

"Each party and coalition cannot have more than twice the number of candidates according to the number of seats in the constituencies. For example, if the seats in Duhok province are 25, they cannot nominate more than 50 candidates," She said.
